We've been on the road for 3 months and still enjoying ourselves.

Chesterton, Indiana (August 29 - 31)

We stayed in a very family friendly RV park in the heartland.  The owners lived in a house in the middle of the campground surrounded by the RV's.  Their chickens roamed freely throughout the grounds.  We bought 2 dozen delicious eggs from them. We hiked another National Park on our visit to Indiana Dunes National Park.  So far, this is the least impressive national park we've seen. Strangely set within city life - trains blowing their horns passing by and some type of steel plant next door. We called this place the "Gnat-ional" Park  as we were swarmed by gnats hiking the 3 miles through forest out to Lake Michigan and the unimpressive dunes. Had a picnic lunch at Beverly Shores - Dana played with the dog in the lake while Jim was busy taking a nap on the beach.

That night we met up with good friends.  Jim's California high school buddy John and his wife Meg came down from Chicago to hang out and go for a nice dinner.

Kalamazoo, MI (August 31 - September 3)

Stayed in the same area where we were married 31 years ago. County RV park was awesome with small private lake and gate leading to nice bike/running trails.

Visited Jim's brother Brian along with his wife Amy and daughter Meghan. Dana also caught up with her old college roommate Yvette from Western Michigan University. We drove to Grand Rapids one day and Dana visited with her parents' best friends from her childhood (they look great for 90 years old). We also grabbed breakfast with our first roommate Lisa when Dana and I first lived together.

New Baltimore, MI (September 3 - 8)

Gorgeous but small campground right on Lake St. Clair. We gathered around the large bonfire in the evenings and talked with fellow RVers on their travels as we viewed the lake. Great to visit all Dana's family during our journey.

Visited with Dana's Aunt Laura and Uncle Chuck and hung out at their lake house, on Lake Huron, a few days.

Whole family pictured in with "Herbie" the 1930 model A that has been in the family for 4 generations.

We were in town for Dana's nephew Graham's wedding at the Detroit Yacht Club. The groom and groomsmen all dress in Scottish kilts to celebrate his family heritage.

Port Clinton, Ohio (September 8 - 10)

Stayed on an old Army base on Lake Erie that was originally built in the 1800's to defend the Great Lakes. Now it is used as training for Army National Guard and home to Marksmanship competitions. Interesting place to stay. Took a day trip to Cleveland to check out the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  Definitely a cool place to visit (highly recommend) and we really enjoyed the 6 hours we spent looking at the displays, listening to music and releasing our inner "rock" selves by jamming on instruments we had no clue on how to play:).

Jefferson, Ohio (September 10 - 12)

Awesome little rural campground in eastern Ohio near the Pennsylvania border. Crossed another park off the list when visiting Cuyohoga Valley National Park. This was a beautiful park that had a stunning waterfall and some interesting shale rock layers formed hundreds of millions of years ago. Hiked two separate 2 mile walks in different locations.  Very fun day.  Stopped at the local farmers house on way back to RV to buy a couple dozen eggs from him.
